My name is Shelly McBride and I am the Principal of Central Elementary. I graduated from White Pigeon High School in 1997. I attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor receiving a Bachelor of Science along with my teaching certificate in Physical Education K-12 and Psychology 7-12. After finishing my student teaching in Jackson Public Schools, I began teaching physical education in Centreville. I received a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University in 2006. Currently I am involved in a year long educational process of receiving a specialty endorsement on my Administrator Certificate in Educational Leadership through the Michigan Elementary, Middle School Principals Association (MEMSPA). I live in White Pigeon with my husband, Jason, and our two daughters. Jaylee is in Kindergarten and Ellie is excited to be entering Young-Fives next school year! I also have a step-son named Jared that is in his sophomore year at Grand Valley State University.
I enjoy a lot of different activities! My family and I like to put puzzles together, play Memory, and all sorts of Wii games from Kids Dance Party, bowling, and Wii Resort. The outdoors has always been a great place to enjoy family time, and this past year I finally got my pink camouflage combo bow! My husband and I enjoy hunting together and going fishing with our girls.
My belief is that parents/families are a crucial link to student success. I am dedicated to partnering with families to ensure the success of all students. Communication is a critical component to this partnership and I encourage all parents/families to communicate regularly with your child's teacher and with me. All of us at Central are dedicated to your child’s success.
